During the past few weeks:
I have learnt about the British Settlement of Australia, Early European Settlement in Victoria and theories on the Settlement of Australia.
I most enjoyed the Humanities class on the Reasons for Settlement of Australia .
My attitude has been positive because I really like this subject and enjoy using the computers and not just doing work on paper and in our books.
My behaviour has been quite good in class and towards the work that I put in, but I beleive that I need to persist and continue to put in more effort and study.
My interim report in the subject wilI indicate that I have tried my best, but need to get better and do better work .
The hardest task I have had to complete is the Essay that we have to do on reasons why Australia was not claimed by other Europeans.
My workbook is up to date.
My greatest strength is answering questions on a text (comprehension sheets) and creative writing.
The two areas of my learning that I want to focus on improving are:
1. Writing Essays, mainly learing the structure
2. Writing and Vocabulary
I am happy with the progress that I have acheived, but need to make sure that I do not get comfortable and start to slack off.
What is the most important thing that you have you learnt in Humanities in the past month? The Most important thing that I have learnt in Humanities in the past month is that James Cook was not the discoverer of Australia and that there was way more to the discovery of Australia and settlement than we were just taught in Primary School.
What did you do to help yourself learn? I helped myself to learn by not getting distracted by others, trying to keep myself on top of the game, motivate myself to change from my (negative) attitude last year.
What did you do that made it difficult for you to learn well? Things that made it difficult for me to learn is the fact that I couldn't understand, or didn't know what to do and work from other subjects.
Who did you work with? Were these effective (good) working relationships? I have worked with Alex and Susan and have found that they are very helpful and we are a good example of effective (good) working relationships.
How is your progress towards meeting your goals for the semester? The progress towards meeting my goals for this semester has gone well, but we're only into the fourth week and there is so much more to do during this year, this is only the start.
